Did you like the first post about Internet trends? We have got some more applications for social television!

Last post we gave information about the 2nd screen television application; Zeebox. This application gives more information about the programmes you are watching. To make it easier for you to find the products shown in advertisements, we will introduce QR-codes.

What is a QR-code?:
QR stands for quick response, it is a 2D barcode. Just like in the shops, but than consisting out of squares instead of lines. These are the black and white blocked square patterns. When you scan this code with your smartphone, you will immediately go to the website that is connected to this code.

How to scan a QR-code:
To scan these codes, you need to download a special application. These applications are available in the application stores on your tablet, laptop or smartphone. Well know applications to scan these codes are: QR Droit for Android and QR Code Reader by ShopSavvy for Apple. To make it more fun: these apps are for free!

Why are QR codes a good way of advertising?
QR-codes make people visit your website when they see an advertisement with your QR-code on there next to the products. Making it easier for the customer to find information about the products and linking you to the web shop is an extra service from your brand.

When your advertisement is interesting but not able to give all the information you want it to give, then a QR-code will be useful. Applying a QR-code will make the potential customer more curious for extra information about the product or the brand. This makes the potential customer to visit your website and you will create a bigger brand awareness.

 Is this application more useful than the 2nd screen application of Zeebox?

We think both applications are a great way of making customers more interactive with your brand. When people are watching television, the Zeebox app might be more useful. While advertising in magazines or on the Internet, the QR-codes might be more effective. Advertising new interior campaigns might be more effective when we will use QR-codes.
